Description
Here is a Mason & Hamlin Mahogany Baby Grand, originally made 100 years ago, then rebuilt in the 1980s. In many ways, it looks and plays well, despite having a hard life. The wood is beautiful, with the wide, shimmering stripe of mahogany, although it was finished with the lighter stain often associated with walnut or even chestnut. The action is working and the tone is quite lovely, since the strings and hammers are still in very good shape. Some will remember when Mason & Hamlin was considered among the top American-made pianos, and it is certainly one of the few brands that people have bothered to rebuild. This one has some seams in the soundboard that are separating, despite considerable repairs done with the rebuild in the 80s. However, it is not affecting the tone or performance, and this situation may actually continue for years without a problem, based on our observations. This one is sold As Is, but retains its 100% Trade-up option for a period, like all our other pianos. So we have eliminated the risk for you. This is highly unusual, to find a premium, hand-crafted American piano in this price range! Includes bench.
