Here is a Steinway Centennial Parlor Grand ready for a new home after staying in one family for three generations. This was made in 1926, so it’s coming up on 100 years old. It was also fully rebuilt in 2004, so the strings and hammers have many years left in them. It was lightly used since the rebuild, as the owners moved past the age they wanted to play much. The finish has some fissures that indicate its age, yet has a lovely sheen and overall appearance, with no sun fading. It was clearly refinished in 2004 too. And it is indeed a Steinway, with rich, full tone that is at once mellow, pleasing, and powerful. It isn’t too often that you can find an eminently enjoyable Steinway in this price range.
